Low Carb Cheese Taco Shells

We love tacos, but being low carb means cutting out the shell. Let’s be real here, tacos are not tacos without the shell.  We’ve found a way to enjoy a family favourite without ditching the crunch. We bring to you our favourite cheese taco shell recipe that will make your Friday night a fun fiesta.

This recipe is super simple, and quick, which is perfect for when you have hungry kids dying to eat! What we love about this recipe is that you can personalize your shells. You can substitute your favourite cheese with the cheddar in this recipe.

You can also use it to make cheesy crisps as a chip substitute. All you have to do is turn the portion sizes into bite-sized pieces and you have some delicious cheddar chips.

Cheese Taco Shells

Course Main Dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, place ¼ cup piles of cheese 2 inches apart.
  3. Press the cheese down lightly so it makes one layer.
  4. Place baking sheet in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes or until the edges of the cheese are brown.
  5. Let the cheese cool for 2-3 minutes then lift it up and place it over the handle of a spoon to form a shell.
  6. Let cheese cool completely then remove.
  7. In a pan, cook ground beef over medium heat until cooked.
  8. Add taco seasoning to cooked beef and mix until blended.
  9. Add meat into taco shells and add toppings for your taco. Enjoy!
